I\u2019ve always been an adventurous person. And since I was in Central New York, I took up skiing as a new challenge. And despite my dislike for sports, skiing was a great experience since it gave me an adrenaline rush every time I went skiing.<\/span><\/p>\n

L1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It taught me my strengths and weaknesses. I had never skied before and hence was really scared and nervous. I felt as if I was going to fall since the hill was really steep. I had no idea how to maintain balance or how to stop. One the first time itself, I went out of control and skied at a very high speed until I fell. This was my weakness too. However, my strength was that I was a quick learner, was up for challenges and did not want to give up. <\/span><\/p>\n

L4-commitment to and perseverance<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Eventually, after skiing several times with commitment and perseverance, I got better and better at it. It was difficult because I had to rely on my host parents and friends to take me skiing, and it was relatively far, but I was so glad I could spend my winter doing this wonderful adventure.<\/span><\/p>\n

L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I developed new skills and got better at it. I could eventually speed up, slow down, stop and knew how to control myself. I had never imagined that I could ski confidently. I was proud of myself. I hope to continue this sport every once in a while.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In general, skiing was a great adventure, which made me a risk taker and built up confidence in me. And I\u2019m very glad I could learn it.<\/span><\/p>\n
