I knew I was good with it overall but never realized that some of the dance forms were my strengths. It is after I joined the class I realized that I was extremely good with Contemporary, Waacking, and Bollywood. My sir helped me discover my strengths throughout the year. Now that these are my strengths, I have been asked to focus more on these forms lately so that I can excel in them.

On the other hand, classes have also helped me identify my weaknesses. My sir told me initially that I was awful at facial expressions, my energy was usually low while dancing and my hits weren’t graceful. He had told me to improve on my weaknesses within six months. Therefore, to improve my hits, I started taking my exercises seriously. Furthermore, while practicing for the routine, I made sure to give my 100%, keep my body firm yet graceful and get indulged in the music, which helped me with expressions.

LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The biggest challenge I faced with dance classes was the timing. My dance classes used to be from 8 to 9, and I come back home at 4 and usually sit to study at 7. However, due to my classes, my timings were affected. For the first four months, my studies were hampered significantly. Then, I finally decided to do something about it. Thus, I went to one of my coordinators and asked her to help me make a timetable which ensured that I used my time effectively, and my studies were not hampered. Though I stopped following her timetable later, I started studying in my way. Through overcoming this challenge, I developed time management skills. I learned to manage time and do multiple things in a day.

LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

In my class, there were about 8-9 students, and everybody’s pace of learning the dance was different. This often created a problem. My friend and I used to learn the dance relatively quick; however, a majority of them always took time. There were a lot of times when the class went slower and became monotonous. Many times, we used to do the same steps for three slots continuously. Because of this, I started losing my interest and often didn’t feel like going to classes. However, my best friend always motivated me to attend the classes and gave me company. This helped me stay committed to the classes. Moreover, I always convinced myself by thinking that it was for my benefit so that I could polish my steps even more.

I joined dance classes after school as an extracurricular activity.
