GSP MUN

GSP MUN was the first MUN I had ever attended. It was a new experience and a hard one as well. I thought that I would be very excited and enthusiastic on the first day. I had decided to be a part of the IP team and was a reporter. On the first day, I found that I was nervous and anxious, however, I was with some of my friends which made this whole experience better and a little easier as well. At first, we didn’t know that we had to write an article at the end so not everyone had all the notes needed. But in the end, everything worked out all right.

LO2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process                                                                                                      The most challenging part was writing the article, and this was challenging because the committee I had to write about mostly spoke in Hindi and my Hindi is very weak, so it was challenging for me to get all the points needed to complete the article. It was even challenging since this was my first MUN as mentioned before. I thought that I wouldn’t finish the task given in time, however, due to teamwork, I finished it just in time. I know my article wasn’t the best and wasn’t my best work but I was still happy that I achieved finishing it and had at least tried. I even realized that trying new things is necessary and that I should step out of my comfort zone more often. It was important for me to know that because it is going to be useful in the future as well.

LO4-how commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences                              The MUN was difficult to commit to because it had interfered with my everyday life and interfered with the service session, so my option was to attend the MUN or attended the service session and both were important to me. It was a very hard decision for me personally but in the end, I had attended the MUN because It was my first one.  I had attended all the days regardless of any other plan that was going on and in the end, it was all worth it, because I had experienced something new and that is always good.

LO5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively                                                                                                       Working with others is usually very easy for me, it was no different this time. Although, some people are difficult to work with and it made me very frustrated to work with them, but I got over it and focused on my work. It was important that we worked together because if we hadn’t then I don’t think we would have completed the task given. We didn’t have to work together but it was our choice as we all had to compare notes and jot down the ones we didn’t have. If we hadn’t done this then our articles wouldn’t have been written in time and would have been worse.

In general, this was a great experience but to be honest I wouldn’t try it again, maybe as another position but definitely not a reporter. I had a lot of fun and learned many new things.
