Monsoon Musings-CAS Reflection

Monsoon musings were a student-led event by grade 11 students, along with some grade 12 students and essential guidance from English teachers was provided as this was a literary event. This event provided young orators and grown-ups an opportunity to express their feelings and thoughts through literature in form of poetry, short stories, songs, tales, etc. There was also a Seva cafe were the visitors were provided with snacks and refreshments. The interesting thing about the concept of Seva cafe is that the visitors can pay whatever they want according to their choice. For the young artist in our school, an art exhibition was also organized where the students displayed their artwork. Some artworks were also for sale wherein the visitors could pay the amount they wish to. I contributed to this event by working under the marketing team. All the money made out of the event was donated to various non-governmental organization supporting or fighting against a social cause and is trying to improve the society

Learning outcomes achieved :

L1: Identify own strengths and develop new areas for growth
This event provided me with an opportunity to showcase my skills of marketing and also improve them. One of the key skill I have is that I can positively persuade people, hence I thought marketing is the department I should go for. However to make the event more successful and to target more set of audience, various other forms of marketing was required like making posters, leaflets, social media advertisement, and other digital media marketing. I had no skills of creating and using digital media as a form of marketing. For this event, I especially learned how to use software and online tools to create posters and leaflets through a friend. This event gave me a huge opportunity to explore and develop essential skills in using digital media.

L2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills
As mentioned earlier, I had no existing knowledge of marketing through digital media. I had to learn the whole process and the skill myself. Hence to develop this skill I needed time, therefore, it was vital for me to manage my time accordingly from my busy schedule and develop the skill. I was also required to research and explore the online tools and software which I could use for the final creation of the poster. I also had to manage my other work alongside the event so managing the time was a challenge which I overcome. I also took help from my friend(Smit) to help me in marketing, Which reflected a great deal of co-operative and management skills.

L5: Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively
The main reason for this event being a success was due to effective teamwork and collaborative decision-making process done by all the departments. Whenever I was stuck or had a query someone would always offer help and the task would make a progress and same was the other way, whenever someone was stuck I would extend my support and help that person complete his/her work
Working collaboratively put across a great execution on the event day as well as planning and decision making becomes easier and hassle-free as many ideas come into the picture. The best ideas can be combined to put up a good show and productivity increases of individuals increases

Conclusion :
To conclude this event provided me with a great opportunity to develop as a person by enhancing my skills and developing new skills. This was notably the first time I did something out of my comfort zone.
This activity benefits the children who are getting educated by UNICEF, as money collected by our grade through this event and by grade 4 students were clubbed and donated. Therefore through this event, we were able to give back to the society in a positive way, promoting sustainable development and dealing the issues of global significance.
