Art For Everyone

This was again a student-led event, organized by three of my friends. This event was organized in a government school in the rural area of our hometown. This event covered the service strand of CAS. The intention of the event was to bring creativity out of the underprivileged children also to provide them with resources and give them an idea about art. Basically to present them an opportunity to come together and make artworks. I have always been good at arts either performing arts or visual arts. I personally was excited about this event but I got to know about this late so, I attended only one session which was on 22nd September 2018, for 3 hours in the morning.

Learning outcomes achieved:-

LO1:-identify own strength and develop areas of growth

As I have no had no prior experience in teaching it was a quite troublesome errand for me to cause them to figure out how to draw yet bit by bit they began learning. All the students were small and they were continually grinning and chuckling while we were instructing them. It was such a decent minute to see that, thus gradually they began tuning in to us and began following what we were aimed for them to learn. During this time I discovered that I was great with teaching however at first I was not all that certain. Since I am good at arts since my childhood I could show them and make them learn the skills easily. Another challenge was that not everyone understood Hindi, and I couldn’t speak Gujarati. However, my friends helped me interact with them, and meanwhile, I learned a little too. It is essential to undercome challenges since it causes everybody to pick up something or the other and possibly the learning will be useful in their future

LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
I faced 2 main challenges. The first one was again communication, students did not understand Hindi and I did not understand Gujarati. However, because of the service session, I could make some basic conversation if they were doing something wrong. Moreover, those students were very shy to even talk to us. The other challenge was that they had never done drawing nor they had any idea as to how to use the resources. They instead were breaking the resources. So we sat with them and should them how to draw and use different resources. The other challenge was we had fewer resources, which is why we panicked at first, but it got managed

LO5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
I have been intrigued by arts since childhood and this occasion allowed me a chance to recover a sparkle of it. School schedules took away that golden spark from my hand. Dealing with alone such huge numbers of children won’t be conceivable if there wasn’t a group to back me up, we worked together and cooperated well with no complain which was the best part as everyone saw each other better and comprehended what must be finished. it wasn’t that tough but it was difficult to pass papers and materials and help personally to each one because there were a huge number of students. Also, we had limited resources so teamwork helped us utilize the resources properly and moreover our cooperation led to a more productive session.

LO6- Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
The scarcity of water is a major worldwide issue. It is extremely obvious that while utilizing watercolors, we require water. The students present there were almost 70-80. Presently a great deal of water was required as we needed to do water shading and doing it on 2 days methods more wastage of crisp water. Art for everyone made all of us realize that we don’t even think twice before buying new resources, without knowing that we already have plenty of them just because we are able to afford them.
