As a part of service component of CAS,I attended service sessions organized and held in Fountainhead school for 6 saturdays continously.It was a short term venture but really worth.During this maneuver me and other students arrived school in the morning to teach the unprivileged children in different sports.I had chosen basketball as it is my strength and I can teach it well to them.We teach them for some hours and took feedback for our benefit so that we could every other time we visited.My aim was to take away good learnings and develop my skills.My goal was also to spread awareness within people about how important is education and reduce the global level of illiteracy as much as possible from my side.

Learning Outcomes achieved:

• LO2 -Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

The most challenging part during this activity was to teach the children in the language they understand as their primary language is gujarati and i don’t know gujarati at all.which made it so difficult for me to understand them and teach them.I tried to talk them in hindi which was a little helpful  and then collaborated with one of my friend who knew gujarati so that we could teach together and he can also translate me the things the children said this is how i overcame this problem or situation.I feel really proud of myself that i am giving aid towards a global issue,atleast best from my side.I think i developed my problem solving skills ,being responsible skills ,communication skills as well as social skills.which may be really helpful for me in future.like interacting with different people and communicating with them in different manners.This could also help me look problem from various perspectives and resolve in as much creative manner as possible.By taking different responsibilities and doing the tasks on time.

• LO3 -Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

I organized my self by getting prepared with the agenda and confirming it with the instructor available so that i could waste less time and be as efficient as possible.Though not being an organized person on a regular basis but whenever taken a responsibility and try to be as much systematized as possible.Difficulty was to communicate in a particular language and organize  the children orderly.I discovered management skills and leadership skills as a had to manage the children and guide them about what they have to do.I think by developing such skills it will easier to do such ventures in future on better than before by being more efficient.

• LO4 -Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

I personally have determination towards basketball since I was a kid. Determination was an important step to make those sessions productive. I attended almost all the service sessions, I managed teaching them basketball, I also handled them as many at times they created chaos and started doing what they wanted to. This definitely reflects my commitment towards this CAS experience.

• LO5 -Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

We had many students with us and we were approximately only 10 so we coordinated well by dividing ourselves into groups and teaching different set of drills to different set of students. This made those sessions less time consuming and more productive. Moreover, to not make the sessions boring we also used to make them play a match in the end, which was again productive and gave contentment to them, and  definitely looking at their happy faces I was overwhelmed with glee.

• LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Those students were underprivileged and did not have access to any of these activities. Our school and these sessions gave them an opportunity to grow in different fields which somewhere or the other would benefit them in the future. Poverty in India is an extremely significant issue. I feel responsible and proud of myself since I contributed to a global significant issue.

During this activity i developed my principled skills by being regular and being assure that everyone gets an equal opportunity to portray themselves(children).I also developed skill of being caring by showing respect towards the children and have commitment towards my responsibilities i undertake.This activity definitely benefited others as we taught children and i am sure that they must have learnt something.According to me it was a success but it totally depends on the children who learned.That was the reason I attended a feeling satisfaction and accomplishment.BY contributing towards the welfare of society.
