Monsoon Musings

Monsoon musings was a project conducted by a group of students, with the main aim to appreciate art in its forms. The event consisted of two parts, the literary event where people could write their own literature art pieces in any language. I was very happy about the event as the language was not a barrier and for the same reason, I was expecting a good amount of participants. The other part of the event was “Seva Cafe” where the visitors and participants could buy various dishes at any price they wish to pay. Later the funds generated was donated to a charity, which supports unprivileged children and educates them. Along with Seva Cafe we also had Art Stalls where the visitors can admire the artworks created by students and can even buy them at any price they want. I was delighted to see that the students submitted various artworks and all of them were very appealing. A team of organizers was required to make the event possible, and I was the head of the Media Team. I am really passionate about photography so that is one of the reasons I was on the team. I really enjoyed capturing the moments and smiles of people on my camera.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Usually working with people with the right skills set turns out to be easy with me, I do not like when people do not complete the work assigned to them on time. For this particular event, I was working with a senior of mine, she was very proactive and energetic so I enjoyed working with her. We divided the work according to our skill sets, which later turned out to be an excellent idea. I took care of photographing Literary event and my friend took care of photographing Seva Cafe. After the event, we also wrote a newsletter article to publish it in the school magazine. I was able to do quality work and was also able to meet the deadlines. I believe that if I work collaboratively, the workload can be divided depending on the skills of the people I am working with. I feel that this way working as a team becomes more easy and efficient.

LO4: Show the commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

It is usually easy for me to commit to my work if I am working on something that I am passionate about or something that I am interested in. For the particular event, I was able to commit to my work and finish my work on time as photography is something I really like doing and I also enjoyed the event so it was easier for me to work. I had to make sure that each and every Volunteer and Participant was photographed, as I had the responsibility to take evidence for their CAS.  It was hard for me to keep a track on everyone but I am glad that I was able to do it.

The event was a huge success as many people of various ages and backgrounds participated in the event. Parents, teachers, students and surprisingly even grandparents participated in the event and recited the poems in Hindi, English, and Gujarati. I was shocked when I saw the passion of one of the student’s grandparents for writing poems. I was very happy with the way all the volunteers worked selflessly and help us make the event a successful one. Overall, I was very happy to be a part of a successful event, I also got an opportunity to admire a range of artworks and see smiles of the faces of participants and the volunteers.
