AS: DANCE (Creativity/ Activty)

I always enjoyed dancing as I thought I expressed myself best through dancing. I found it liberating and rejuvenating. However, being caught up in rigorous academic classes, I couldn’t learn dance by a professional teacher as it demanded time and effort. LO 2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. CAS helped me take up dance as an extracurricular activity which not only did I thoroughly enjoy but also found therapeutic. I  learned different dance styles and dealt with stage fear by performing in front of a large audience. Initially, I used to be insecure about my dance moves, however, with regular practice, I felt confident about the way I danced. LO 4- Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experience. One thing that made this activity difficult was my fear of performing in front of a large audience. I found myself uninterested in a lot of practice sessions however, I knew I had to successfully complete the experience I chose for myself. Moreover, there were times when I wasn’t satisfied with the efforts I was putting in, however, through showcasing perseverance, I was able to overcome the challenges I faced. LO 5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. The training certainly enabled the development of greater determination, teamwork, and confidence.  A lot of times I found myself giving up due to the difficult dance moves my teacher wanted me to perform. However, with the support of my peers, I felt determined to learn. Furthermore, I formed deeper friendships with people I considered acquaintances. I met new people through an activity I was initially reluctant to engage in. In all, it was a pleasant experience for me which above all, pushed me to get out of my comfort zone in order to learn something new. The learner profile I catered to was reflective. After the completion, I gave thoughtful consideration to my learning experience and how it made me feel. I was able to undergo personal development and become aware of my strengths by taking up this challenge.
