Farewell Decoration

Every year our school organizes farewell for the grade 12 batch. And generally, this is a student-led event wherein everything from planning to execution has to be done by the students. Since we were the grade 11 batch it was our duty to give the grade 12 batch a good farewell. And it was mandatory for all the students of grade 11 to participate. I was part of the decoration team. And being in the decoration team it was our duty to plan and make the decorations and keep them ready on the day of the event. The learning outcomes that I achieved during the event were as follows.

Lo2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills- During this event there were various events that were coming and we were responsible for the decorations of all these events so it was responsibility to balance both the work and finish it on time. Secondly, I was really new to this as I was doing decoration for the first time and so I faced a lot of difficulty while making the decorations as we had divided the work among ourselves. I was given the work of making stars for the event but then eventually I was able to do it with the help of my friends and I was able to do it.

Lo4-Commitment to and perseverance- Although I was doing it for the first time I tried my best to finish the work given on time and not to give up throughout the whole process.

Lo5- Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively- Since this was a group task it was our duty to do the work in a manner where everyone was happy and we always made sure to help the people in need and to guide them in the right direction if they were not able to do it. Afterall we knew that in order to make the event a success we had to work together.

Lo6- Engagement with issues of global significance- While making the decorations we had to keep in mind that the number of resources that we were given was limited so we had to use in a very good manner and in such a way that we do not waste it.

Lo7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions- The decorations that we made were ultimately going to make the event go haywire or actually make it look good so we had to decide appropriately as to when and where what needs to be put.

To conclude the learner profiles that are catered are:

Balance- It is important to balance your time with the other activities that are coming your way. During the farewell decoration, there were several other things that were piled up in our way and so it was important for me to balance my time and complete the work before the day of the event. This helped me managing the time and doing all the things together and meet the deadlines on time.

Open-minded – While discussing the ideas for the decoration there was a clash between the people and their ideas and so it was our duty to be open-minded and accept all the ideas that were coming our way.
