Fountainhead School Nightout 2019

A night out happens in school every once a year for all school students and staff. I volunteered along with a batch mate for organizing the scavenger hunt for the senior school night out. Teamwork was very important to achieve a successful end result and to make this year’s scavenger hunt better and more creative than the last years. Execution of the event was the biggest challenge as the activity was such that even if one clue gets leaked out the mystery and fun will be lost. The planning process with a teacher-in-charge: Along with Utsav sir, Rishi and I brainstormed how things could be done differently than previous years. We went through the resource of previous year scavenger hunts and made sure no places or clues are repeated. Obvious clues were avoided, there were a very few (2-3 clues) which were made simple. The clue sheet was made and crossed checked with other teachers during our meetings, after which they were finally printed. Answer sheets were also prepared for the staff that was going to help us conduct the event. One day before the night out we prepared all the folders that were to be given to the teams and the staff volunteering to conduct the scavenger hunt. All types of equipment were arranged and instructions were given to the staff. Initiating the plan: The very first activity for the night-out was a scavenger hunt. Rishi and I had to segregate the teams, assign them their captain and get the event started. There were a bunch of students who remained absent for the night out and required us to shuffle the students from one group to another due to this. This was one of the major challenges we faced during the activity as it created a ruckus and delayed the activity. The issue was resolved with the help of our teachers and other available staff members. Initiation was difficult as explain the activity while meetings to a small group of people made us feel it is a piece of cake to conduct the activity, but stepping on the stage and instructing a whole batch of senior school was not easy. As firstly, attention had to grasped from the students so that the announcements could be made and that was super difficult to execute. Rishi used tactics to grab attention and gave out the instruction and called team one by one and I handed over the folders. While the activity: The entire point of the activity was to have fun as well as bring in challenges for the participants. Rishi and I kept juggling from one venue to another, helping as well as confusing teams. We made them do punishments and fun tricks if they asked for extra clues. Our main aim was that everyone gets included as people across different grades were teamed up and we could achieve that aim as everyone was seen enjoying. Ethics involved: Being a part of senior school students we had to keep the discussions and detail of the activity confidential as part of school ethics and integrity. The discussions had to be limited to only Rishi, our supervisors and me. Feedbacks: We received some thrilling reviews we were appreciated by the staff of the school was making a unique and interesting hut, which was different than the previous year. The students came up to me and rishi and thanked up for making an interesting treasure hunt. Rishi and I felt overwhelmed and we were very delighted that all our 3 weeks of hard work had paid off. It has always been interesting for me to creatively collaborate and bring out new things and organize events and activities.
