Garba Fest – Creativity, Service.

In this event, I was a part of the decoration team. I also took part in the fest. Garba is a traditional dance of Gujrat. As the decoration had to be traditional we had to put in a lot of efforts. We decided to use flowers and to make the decoration look authentic. We also made many paper flower to decorate which helped us cover more space.

L3. Initiate and plan a CAS experience

As we had to do a lot of decoration we began the preparation before so that we can complete it on time. We divided the work equally for making the paper flowers. We decided to make from home so that we can save time. Everyone was expected to make enough flowers for the decoration. We also used real flowers to give the venue an authentic look for Garb. We students had to put all the decoration for which we worked together so that it becomes easy. For example- The tall people climbed the ladder and the short ones handed them the decoration to put up.

L6. Engagement with issues of global significance

As mentioned before we used fresh flowers for decoration. As the fresh flowers are perishable they were of no use after the event. Keeping this in mind we decided to use less of fresh flowers and more paper flowers. This helped the environment as we minimized the flowers that went waste. On the other hand as a lot of paper was also consumed for making the flowers we made sure that after the fest the flowers don’t go to waste. Some gave all the flowers to school as the paper flowers could be used again as part of decoration for any event by the school. Through this, we saved a lot of paper and also made sure we waste less paper and also fewer flowers. The money earned was again donated to the needful organization for a noble cause.
