Garba fest was an event hosted by Vaishvi, Muskan and Hitanshi. The event aimed to promote traditional dance of Gujarat which is known as Garba. The event was also a fundraiser event which aimed to raise funds and then later donate it to a charity. I participated in the event as a volunteer, I helped the organisers to organise the event and I also did photography for the event. Rather than helping my friends, my main aim was to help make a change in society for good and trying to make this world a better place.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Garba is a very energetic form of dance, people constantly keep moving. So as a photographer it was a challenge for me to capture perfect stills. If I keep the shutter speed too high than the photos would be dark, so I had to keep experimenting with aperture and ISO until I find the perfect balance point.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Initially, I participated in the Garba fest to do the Garba but later I realised that there was only one photographer. So I helped my friends to by participating and also volunteering for their project. As a photographer my role was to click pictures of everyone, as there were too many participants clicking pictures of everyone was a very time-consuming process but still, I managed to do it.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively
I had to click photos for each and every participant so as there were two photographers, we divided the Grades. For example- I clicked pictures of Grade 10 students while my friend clicks photos of Grade 11 students.
Overall, I really enjoyed the event. It was nice photographing people while they forget everything and dance with full energy with a big smile on their faces. At the end of the day, it also made me happy and satisfied as I helped my friends raise funds to do something good for society.
