CAS Profile – Sanskar Jalan

Hola! My name is Sanskar Jalan, I am 18 years old yes, officially an Adult! Synonyms to my name, Sanskar, which means civilized and cultivated in Hindi, I have been brought up in a family, which is the quintessence of Indian cultural values. While I am comfortable interacting with everyone, I am very selective when it comes to making friends.I maintain close bonds with only a select few. Ask my friends, and they would be quick to describe me as a business enthusiast as I would regularly share with them facts about the business world.

I have a creative side too. In my leisure time, I love to paint. I can work on any form of visual art efficiently. My passion for painting has won me many accolades in and outside of school.

People perceive me as a compassionate and helpful individual who is ever ready to help others when they are in need. I take pride in the fact that people see me as a very ethical person. Being straightforward, I detest people’s unethical practices and would often point that out even at the risk of offending the. No wonder, I have lost friends due to the said fact.  Nevertheless, I continue to remain the way I am.

All in all, I am a person who knows how to strike a balance between academics, social life, and extracurricular activities.

Generally, in real life, there’s nothing unimportant. Everything, including individuals around us that constitute our universe, is indispensable for living a happy and successful life. Among them, I find the most important are the ones with whom I have grown up with and the ones who grew me to become the individual I am today. These people have played a crucial role in shaping my values, ethics, and personality.

According to me, one fails when one loses hope and not when a task goes unaccomplished. When we value our relationships with family and friends, we can rarely fail because they would motivate us at every step of life, supporting us to resurrect.

Whether it is entering a university or leaving every day for the school, without the support of your dear ones, life wouldn’t be complete and blissful. These people are the ones who become part of the memories that I will treasure forever and cherish at times of difficulties. While distances can separate them from me physically, but they will always be close to my heart and continue to be my universe.

Being creative, I was initially inclined towards a career in the arts. However, after meeting a few artists, I realized that I would instead pursue painting as a hobby than as a career. Later a career counselor helped me identify my interest in the business since I enjoy knowing about the business world and even enjoy reading books related to the topic. To prepare for the career I am pursuing business management and economics for my IBDP. I have attended various lectures by business leaders and am being mentored by my dad, who runs a successful business.
