ISF World Ultimate School Championship

ISF World Ultimate School Championship was held from 23-28th June 2019. This event was held in Le Mans, France, Organised by ISF and UNSS. I represented my nation India and my School with my fellow teammates. Ultimate is a game that underlooks stereotypes and is a game where both male and female players play together while maintaining the spirit of the game. This opportunity gave me a hell of an experience. Teams representing countries from around the world participated and made the event culturally diverse.

L1
Identify own strengths and develop the area of growth

After the 6 months of practice, I realized that I was playing good as a handler and a defender but I still made a lot of mistakes that resulted in a loss. I felt that I did pretty well and communicating with people during and outside the game which helped me know many people situated around the globe. I think that I could have physically put in more effort to improve my game and help my team to a better stand.

L4
commitment to and perseverance-
Before we went to Le Mans, France we almost practiced twice every week for 5 months which gained us the position we deserved and could have deserved if we would have worked harder. I made sure that over the 5 months I make sure to not miss on any sessions and I hardly missed on 2-3 of them. It seemed more fun than a compulsion as it was fun to have such amazing teammates spending early mornings, breakfasts and tea together. This really helped me build a character of myself which is hardworking and dedicated towards everything.

L6
Engagement with issues of global significance

Ultimate Frisbee has been a growing sport in India and it has given a lot of opportunities to unprivileged children around the country. During training sessions, a lot of tournaments were organized where children were called to play free of cost and breakfast was also served. So this event gave me an opportunity to develop myself as an individual and also somewhere help these children to etch out their rigor, true dedication and create an identity of themselves in this community. By going to this tournament I also learned about problems that other children are also facing such as peer pressure and balancing between academics and physical activities. I have been in touch with a few of my friends and it has truly been an experience to share things and problems and helping as much as I can individually.

L7-
Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Like I talked earlier about the regularity at training camps, it was really important to wake up on time in the morning, pack bags, cleats and take a fresh face to the field. We used to work out initial in dark during winters and we had to run 2-3 laps of the entire field which I sometimes compromised on and I faced strains and muscle pulls because of. Many a times we were also late on the field during the tournament in France due to which we missed 5-10 mins of our warm-up session. We could have faced serious injuries if we didn’t warm up ourselves properly. It should have been us strictly following what our coaches and mentors said to maintain the discipline on and off the field when required.
