Monsoon Musings

I was part of an event called monsoon musings. The aim of the event was to give budding writers the opportunity to express their ideas in the forms of poems and tiny tales. My job was to market the event and also to be a helping hand on the day of the event. It had been a very long time since poetry was brought to spotlight on the other hand, tiny tales were becoming very famous among teenagers. So the collaboration of both became the perfect fusion of classic poems with modern tiny tales. When I heard of an event like this taking place I knew that I was meant to be a part of it. So I went to every grade in the school and verbally marketed it to them which was extremely difficult as it was very difficult to market to a class full of teenagers, but I answered their queries and gave them all the right reasons to be a part of the event. By doing this I ticked down my first LO-1 where I identified my strength of marketing, and thus by marketing monsoon musings I developed myself in that area.

I then with my team made posters and invitation cards but as there was a lot of other work to do we were not able to communicate and felt that we wouldn’t be able to meet the deadline. But we were perserseveant and did the best we could, we quickly helped our teammates; we stuck posters all over the school, the information and invitation card was sent to everybody through blog post and emails. It is not easy to commit and be perseverant to be truthful but I can’t deny the power of teamwork, what kept us going was the fact that we had each other and as it was the first event we were hosting as a grade we couldn’t let down our classmates. By doing this I used the LO-4 where I and my team were perseverant to make attractive and eye catchy poster before the deadline. I also completed the LO-5 as we all worked in collaboration with each other, I feel working in collaboration is an easy job to do as we all have expertise in different areas and to get the best out of each makes the work look great. However, in this particular case, it was a little difficult because we were lacking a lot of time as we were not able to communicate but we were able to pull it off by the end of it because we all worked collaboratively.

On the day of the event, I was placed to serve the audience with hot and cold beverages. So from cleaning the glasses, setting up the table to serving was all done by me, I did not know how to do this before the day of the event  , I wouldn’t call this a very challenging skill but it was just difficult and nerve-racking as I had gotten a very odd job that I had personally never done before and it did not just teach me the skill of doing odd jobs but to challenge myself to come outside my comfort zone. After doing this I felt a sense of satisfaction as I did not let myself feel embarrassed about doing this job but confident. Thus I ticked out learning outcome 2 (L-2) wherein I took my job as a challenge and was benefited with a new skill.
