Ever since I was a little girl I would learn to play various musical instruments but I never got attached to any one of them, I just did not feel the connection. Until I joined fountainhead school and was given a choice of playing drums. Playing drums had never come in my wildest dreams but I thought of giving it a shot. When I played drums for the first time I directly connected to it, I understood that this is the instrument that I would love to learn by doing. A part of me felt satisfied, as it was my dream to learn how to play a musical instrument. The reason it is important for me to know my strength is because I have always loved music and I always wished wanted to be part of the music so this was my chance to redeem on my dreams. In this way, I complete the LO1. Playing drums was never easy for me as I would take 4 classes to learn the same beat that the other students could have learned in one class, at first I felt a little demotivated but I have overcome this challenge by realizing that every kid learning power is different and that I had to accept mine. The reason it was so important to me was that this was the first instrument I really like playing a just because I was a slow learner that didn’t mean that I could not perfect it. By doing this LO2 was completed. To help myself further I started making notes on what I was playing and would keep revising it throughout the week until my next AS class would come. I think in the future it will be easy for me to plan and initiate as all of this was self-learning and self-motivation which are key requirement to initiate a plan. By doing this LO3.
I fear to play drums on the stage, a fear that I have yet not overcome. But I have come a long way when it comes to playing drums and keeping myself going by doing this. The commitment that is required over here is self-confidence which I feel will develop with time as I practice. In most cases, it is easy for me to commit to things but in this case, eradicating fear seems a little difficult and so only long term commitment can help me overcome this fear. LO4 is completed and I am sure one day I will be able to go on the stage confidently and make people dance on the beat of my drums.
