Australian Film contest

Creativity(Making of a movie)

Activity(Went to shoot video, this required physical activity)

Service(Raised awareness on issues of global significance)

I have been learning Film making in my art special class, and have always been extremely passionate about the use of Algae to clean sewage, generate biofuels, nutraceuticals, and bioplastics. I came across the Australian Film contests for students in Asia, the category and genre I decided was: a video on how Algae farming will solve global issues, and the format was a business pitch. The experience of making a movie was truly enlightening, and this is when I realized how fun Film making is.

LOs:

L1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I knew that I am good at doing research and looking up the facts and points that can help me put my point forward. I did that well, and because I am not a very good actor and am not experienced with writing scripts, I took the help of my Film teacher.

L2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

While I am talkative and share a lot of things, I am also very shy in front of new people and a camera. Acting in the film was a challenge I never knew I would be willing to take on. I did act in the video( I am the mayor) and learned new things about acting as well as myself.

L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboartively

I worked with Saksham Jain, Jeel Dudhat, and teachers on this project. I had to collaborate and take in inputs from everyone. We had gone to the bridge to shoot the video of the River Tapi, we had to work together to take videos, as people would enter the frame of our shot.

L6. Engagement with issues of global significance

The global issues we addressed here were Clean Water, Reducing greenhouse emissions and reducing pollution are issues that I tried to raise awareness and give a solution to that.
