It is necessary for every student to aim for holistic development and that what I try to achieve by doing high scale MUNs [Model United Nations]. These are a great platform through which you can increase your global knowledge and at the same time you get a platform to interact, debate and learn. It helped me to increase my stage confidence and at the same time it gives me a sense of responsibilities on my shoulders as to be the official representative of such big MUN.
Therefore there were a lot of learnings throughout this event. These were as follows:
LO:2 UNDERSTAND THE CHALLENGES THAT HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN TO LEARN NEW SKILLS
I have taken part in almost 10 MUNs but this was the first time I got the chance to be a representative of a MUN. This was not just any MUN it was an UN recognised MUN which was directly affiliated with the United Nations. I being the representative had many difficulties as I had to collect many forms and also large amount of money. This was challenging as this was the first time I did such kind of task.
LO:5 DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS AND RECOGNISE THE BENEFIT OF WORKING COLLABORATIVELY.
As this being a large organisation I had to always make sure that I do my work properly because its possible that due to my mistake the entire team has to suffer. Also it not being my event and I just being a part of it, it was necessary for me to always inform whatever decision or step I took on behalf of the organisation.
LO:7 RECOGNISE AND CONSIDER THE ETHICS OF CHOICE AND ACTION.
It was very important for me to be ethical as there were instances where I had a large amount of participants’ cash with me also when I was taking the payments there were many unethical requests made but yet I denied all those so that I can be loyal to the organisation.
All in all it was a great experience for me and I would love to do such a task again.
