CAS TRIP TO GIR !!

I being a new student got an amazing opportunity to visit Gir with my new friends and at the same time I got the opportunity to learn something new and be productive towards the society. We went to Gir with an organisation called Rural Pleasure who gave us an opportunity to save asiatic lions of Gir by covering up the wells and protecting the lions from falling into the wells.

For this project we covered two wells. During the entire process I learned many things such as:

LO:1   IDENTIFY OWNS STRENGTHS AND DEVELOP AREAS FOR GROWTH.

During this session I learned that I was capable of making such gigantic protection nets also I learned that how to use machines such as a welding machine or cutting machine. So during this session I learned a lot about cage making and how to use technical machine which will be a lifelong learned skill.

LO:2  UNDERSTAND THE CHALLENGES THAT HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN TO LEARN NEW SKILLS

Also it was difficult to use all the professional machines as they were very dangerous but our supervisor were very helpful in teaching us as at first we were not able to use those machines and I in person was getting very frustrated but they told me that it will be alright as this kind of stuff happens and they constantly helped me to overcome my mistakes.

LO:4  SHOW COMMITMENT TO AND PERSEVERANCE TOWARDS CAS EXPERIENCE .

This actually tested my commitment as while welding the net to the metal frame, I unintentional burned my hand thereby I had a very painful and big scar on my right hand but even after the unbearable pain I decided to complete the project. It was only possible with the help of my teacher and friend that I was able to work and finish the role assigned to me.

LO:5  DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS AND RECOGNISE THE BENEFIT OF WORKING COLLABORATIVELY.

Obviously it being such a big project team work is at its essentials taking my example as after I burned my hand all my friend were ready to help me and complete my work. Also where the well was situated it was very difficult for the truck to carry the large metal frame there. So we all carried the frame and walked for a minimum of 500 m.

LO:7  RECOGNISE AND CONSIDER THE ETHICS OF CHOICE AND ACTION.

During this trip I understood the importance of wildlife conservation and how we don’t respect what we are provided with. We tried to make all the ethical choices possible for this project.

Also we were told to conserve electricity and water and make sure that we emit less of CO(carbon monoxide) so that the surrounding stay as they are for the future.
