These were the sessions that were organised by our school to help the underprivileged students to learn some basic skills such as cooking, basketball, dancing, frisbee, etc. I being a dance lover and a constant in the dance world decided to take dance as the area to teach.

I learned a lot during these sessions such as:

LO:1   IDENTIFY OWNS STRENGTHS AND DEVELOP AREAS FOR GROWTH.

        During this session I learned that it’s not only that I like to dance it’s also that I love teaching it. I being dancing from the last 15 years never imagined that dance would be a source of connection between me and the underprivileged. So during this session I identified my strength of teaching dance rather that just learning it.

LO:4  SHOW COMMITMENT TO AND PERSEVERANCE TOWARDS CAS EXPERIENCE .

        This was a difficult activity to complete as I had to be committed to it for a very long time i.e for a month. This taught me that teaching dance is a thing that I love and can continue it for a much longer time. It was quite surprising for me to be so persistent in this activity as i have never done something of this sort.

LO:5  DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS AND RECOGNISE THE BENEFIT OF WORKING COLLABORATIVELY.

         Working in a group or working collaboratively is a skill that is with me from a very long time. I love working with people as I being an extrovert, it gives me the opportunity to talk to the people I have never talked before and also to make new friends. Speaking specifically of this activity it was rather easy for me to communicate as some of us came from the same grade therefore we had the same understanding. We worked well collaboratively as we created two groups one that would interact with the children and teach them the warmup and exercise and the other that would set the choregraphy. So I was in the second group as that was something I wanted to try and seeing the expression on the faces of the kids i feel I achieved what I aimed for.

LO:7  RECOGNISE AND CONSIDER THE ETHICS OF CHOICE AND ACTION.

        During the activity it was necessary to stay ethical as that the foundational layer of our life and we should always stay honest towards it. So during the choreography we first thought of using some choreography from youtube as our base but then we as a group found it unethical and rejected that idea.
