There was a service session conducted in our school which demanded the complete involvement of we students. As the name suggests we were required to provide service to underprivileged children who were asked to come to our school and get knowledge from us about different areas of life. I was in charge of making the children learn sports specifically basketball. It was a great experience to teach the sport which comes in my interest and we also played a game which was very much fun. Another experience was that I was finding it difficult to converse with the students as they did not know proper English and their speech was also not in flow but still I managed them very nicely and made the service session successful.

The LO’s which I included and identified to be used here were:

LO1 was included as it states the identification of new strengths and growth. Hence in this area, I identified my strengths of being a leader and managing and handling stuff. The objective was also being achieved under my supervision. The growth which I identified was that I improved over my communication skills to get the work done and make the students understand the reason for what they were present.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Consistent perseverance and regularity were demonstrated by me in this CAS as the service session was for 2 to 3 weekends and we were required to be present every time and I was present at the venue without any fail.

LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

This particular learning outcome discusses my engagement with the issues leading to its global significance. During the service session, I was given the responsibility of teaching the underprivileged children any form of art. I was asked to teach them a sport which was basketball. The way my teaching has global significance is because me teaching a particular form of sport to these children will help them take interest in it and if they wish further they can practise it and succeed it the sports field. Hence, in this way many other students can get this particular idea and hence my decisions have a possibility to have a global significance and impact.
