CAS GIR TRIP

Our cas trip to Gir was organised by the school ,which was of 4 days and began working from the second day itself . It was an opportunity to do something for the species living around us which provided me to explore, gain knowledge and learned about conserving and preserving wildlife and nature which is also a home to others. So basically it was about the lions who mainly in the dark are not able to identify  the wells present and while searching or catching their prey they tend to fall in it and their survival chances are really less which includes one more factor for their decreasing population along with other factors. we made fences for covering the wells to protect them from falling as Gir Forest National Park is a wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat and was established to protect Asiatic lions along with leopards and antelopes . we had a great opportunity have a  hands on experience  in making a metal cover in the Workshop (after several manufacturing process like cutting, drilling, welding, etc) and installing it over the well

LO 1:Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

The trip made me realise that I can be also good at things which I have never thought of doing or even intend living in luxury as this trip made me step up from my comfort zone and do something for the wildlife as an expression of humanity for them . also while doing the tasks like cutting, drilling and welding I realised the amount of pressure, force and pressisionis required and it is a calculated move to make a precise and accurate dimensional fence, from it got to learn that along with a focused mind I also need to have patience.

LO 2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

learning and accepting new challenges such as cutting, welding and drilling seemed to be very easily and swift at first look but then when I did it ,i came to know that without  proper protection equipments such as glasses and gloves it is tough to complete it and at the beginning it was a bit scary but due dedication and commitment given to myself along with a dose of confidence given to me by my teachers made it happen for me along with developing a new skill within me .

LO 4:Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

As things seem to be easy when look at it but the real scene is when you do it ,as i boosted my confidence for doing the respective tasks ,I made it happen.

LO 5:Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Well of course we were put into teams to give our best collaboratively so that we can give best output with full efficiency and swiftness.we had turns group wise for all the tasks like drilling ,cutting and welding for making the fence. As I was friends with everybody so our coordination was smooth even though we didn’t complete it first still we were proud of what we achieved.

At last, it was a great trip full of experience and knowledge and I am proud of myself to do some good and learn something new out of my comfort zone.
