CAS Project Reflection; Monsoon Musings.

Monsoon Musings:

  • It was an event where I was the HOD of Academic Honesty.
  • I wanted to learn how to work with a team, and how to improve communication within a team.
  •  I learned a lot about citation early on that will now help me during the 2years of IBDP.
  • My duty was to check all of the entries to the event for Academic honesty as well as profanity.
  • I was also assigned with the task of ordering the performances and a lot of communication with the participants.

LO1, LO2, LO3, and LO5:

I identify a key weakness of mine which is that I tend to procrastinate, which was seen a lot of the times during the planning. Now that I look back to my habit of procrastination I feel, I have changed due to the dire consequences of so during the event planning. It is a need to work on your weakness as no person is perfect, if I work on my weaknesses it will bring me closer to be a great leader. The change is slowly settling in as I have started working on my tasks.

I faced the challenging task of communicating, I am timid and don’t really meet new people and, I always face with an inestimable challenge when I have to talk to an unfamiliar person. For this event, I had to communicate from the people outside of my grade and also with participants from across the school and answer a lot of their questions about the event. I was introduced to the idea by my teachers and later was assigned to the team of academic honesty, where I worked with my friend Dhruv Iyer as the head of the department.  Apart from being in my own group I also be a part of the meetings and inform the teachers about our progress.

This was my very first CAS Project I was absolutely unaware of any procedures or processes to be conducted for the event, We were a team of HODs who were also assigned other tasks apart from their Department in order to ensure the smooth flow of the event, I had to attend meetings and had to plan the event with the school staff.  Collaboration was the key to success specifically for this event or for any other event of this scale, I as a HOD had to Communicate with my fellow HOD, and share the performance details with the anchor of the show and to communicate with the participants who had submitted plagiarised work. The major communication standpoint was during the meetings that took place during the Brainstorming for the event where we were deciding what shall be done, and during this, I gave many inputs.
