For this activity my grade was divided into groups and each group was assigned a continent. We had to represent and create an environment of royal weddings of that continent using different text types. My group was assigned the continent Africa. After a lot of discussion we decided that we would represent the wedding of King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco. We had to choose different text types to represent the wedding. I chose the text type of a new channel template, for which I had to make a news channel template of my own which included information about the wedding date and other details.
Learning outcomes-
LO.1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I learned that my editing skills are amateurish. I found that I am adept at finding information. Now that I am aware of it i will work on my editing skills by taking help from friends or others as these skills will certainly make things convenient by helping me make my work better. It is important to know your weaknesses and strengths to be able to work on them.
LO.2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills
It was not easy to find a lot of pertinent information and I was facing problems with editing my text type. This problem arose because the internet had a lot of extraneous information and the app i was using for editing was not that good. I have done things like this before but I did not have to deal with things like editing. I just used a different app and took some help from friends for editing and for the information i just had to look for the right places. It is important for us to take new challenges because they help us grow as an all-rounded person and they help us identify our strengths and weaknesses.
LO.4- Commitment to and perseverance
As a part of the task a lot of teamwork and coordination was required, as a result I attended several meetings and made sure to not miss these meetings. I was assigned the duty to make a news channel template, so I set myself and worked hard towards completing my task on the tight deadline that I had. My focus and perseverance was useful as I was very well able to complete the task on deadline.
LO.5- Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Working with others is generally not difficult for me, which was same for this activity too. Everyone was very co-operative and obliging. We had divided our work and helped anyone who was stuck, making teamwork a really important part of our activity.
