Garba Fest

Navratri is the most awaited festival in Gujarat and a very well known art form in all of India. It lays the importance of worshipping Goddess durga over the span of 9 days, the significance of the festival is to worship goddess Durga who represents the Shakti or Energy in 9 different forms in the universe. This tradition has been maintained since years and is the time when traditional outfits. The city is lit up with the colour of lights and craving for midnight food. To let the livelihood remain and the culture be preserved, students from our grade took the initiative to organise this garba fest. Being on the decoration team I played a role in giving input for ideas and physically helping to decorate before the event.

Learning outcomes achieved-

LO-2

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills. The biggest challenge i felt was the amount of time we had to think of the plan and execute it, as the venue of the event was in the school itself. Having discussions and sticking to a plan was pretty difficult till the very last minute. I think that if we would have been better off with assigning duties to every individual beforehand it would have been easier and better to put up a great show. The biggest challenge I thought and which further turned into a skill was time management and physically implementation skills. Overall it was important for us to get the output on time which we were able to achieve but the standards of quality could have differed.

LO-3

Initiate and plan a CAS experience- We started off with a sheet of paper, writing down the ideas and inputs given by everyone. We started off with the initial process which is constructing parts of the decor which were the paper flowers which weren’t easy to make and needed fine skills. We were a group of 10 people, some gathered resources and some were part of the making. Once we were done with making all the flowers we decide to hang it but as I earlier mentioned time was an issue which is why we were off the route we had planned. We then planned to make it to school early morning on the day of the event to do the final decor and touch up. It was a rough road to the final product but we managed to by making it the top priority.

LO-5

Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively- If it wasn’t a collaborative work then I don’t think that we would have ever done any of the decoration on time. Synergising with other helps me to be a better explorer and taught me not to be dependent on others. I saw each an every one taking up the leadership even when no one was watching, it inspired me to work harder strive for the best. The amount of effort we had put in was above limits. Working in a team has always been my thing, assigning duties to everyone and getting the best result is what anyone would desire. I was lucky to have such hard-working classmates.

Hats off to all the event coordinators who worked so hard to make this a successful event it be transport, food, decoration the were always on their foot. Thanks to all the Teacher who help us with getting the resources we needed and a huge thanks to the helper didi’s and bhaiya’s.
