Monsoon Musing

Monsoon Musing was an event all about appreciating the literature, the art and the food served during Seva Cafe(an experiment of generosity in the form of pay-it-forward restaurant). This was a charity event where Students, Teachers and Parents came along to recite their stories with the medium of poetries.I was part of the Seva cafe where we the students prepared dishes and sold them in exchange for happiness in return we asked nothing just a wholesome amount a person want to pay in return of our services. It was very important for everyone of us to know the purpose of the event which was to preserve the literature that is gradually disappearing.

The strength that I felt was my passion and my love for cooking and serving food, also having my classmates as my team members was a major advantage. I felt that compared to other events this event was much more smooth and resourceful, the duties were assigned beforehand making it simpler for us to manage. Also appreciating the management for providing the best of resources available. Seva cafe was something that I did for the first time but when you get what it’s about, you’d thoroughly understand the value of serving not just food but a plate full of kindness and happiness. I could see myself developing as a person, working with synergy and enthusiasm. I think the only area of development required is better communication with all the event teams are there were problems we faced like repetition of dishes by different group. I also could have took up the leadership of looking out when the co-ordinators weren’t around.

Collaboration is always challenging and fun. I was pretty happy with the kind of enthusiastic people I had on my group, sharing responsibilities and delicious food. It wasn’t just a one man show out there, we all looked out for each other when it was needed. I think we the students of the event, from cooking to serving it was all of us who made this happen. The service of the food at the seva cafe was quite smooth and were on time, the sandwiches, brownies and the bhel were a huge success. The smiles said it all and we collected quite an amount of donation which was donated to UNICEF. The thing which could have been better was comunication between the leaders and the volunteers about the purpose and the aim which was to be achieved.

You always feel proud when you do something good for the society and the future of the world. Hard work pays off when you could make even a small donation to the world. This event was to preserve the literature and donate the money which would be collected during the seva cafe and the art exhibition. The amount was donated UNICEF to help educate children who don’t have privilege to get educated.

To conclude I would like to appreciate all the teachers and our event coordinators for organizing such an event which helps aid and great cause. It was happiness I felt while working and sharing the lovely memories with all my classmates.
