I have been observing the robotics field for a long time for amusement, but I never had a chance to explore it seriously. Hence, having Computer Science as an IB subject provided me an opportunity to examine the robotics field for the extended essay. For gaining some base information on robotics, I have read several documents about different classifications of robots. It helped me to choose a particular robot for the extended essay. Through maintaining the researcher’s reflection space, I expect a smooth conversation between my supervisor and me during the reflection sessions. Currently, I have tentatively decided a research question that is “How does the microprocessor Raspberry Pi present ampler functionalities than the microcontroller Aurdino in hobbyist robots?” which I expect it to be more specific, in terms of the functionalities as per the Computer Science extended essay criteria. Moreover, I prepare to meet my primary research source to understand the technical information about robotics in depth for completing the introduction division of the extended essay.

To ensure that I can collect sufficient resources to answer the research question adequately, I have conversed with my primary research source, who provided me a few datasheets to commence the extended essay research. For further research, the primary research source has properly guided me to find acceptable research papers. The current research question has been approved by my extended essay supervisor on the bases of an agreement to transform it into a more specific question after completing the extended essay to construct a clear focus of the research.

For a favorable extended essay content, my supervisor has advised me to include many segments of computer programming in the essay.
