Business management and entrepreneurship has always interested me and so, writing an Extended Essay in business management appeared a good idea to me. For my extended essay, I had decided topics like marketing, finance, human resource, mergers in business management. As the majority of the people were doing their extended essay in marketing or finance so my supervisor suggested me to do my extended essay on some other topic which is uncommon among the others. Hence, I decided to do my extended essay on research and development in business management. I researched about top companies involved in heavy research and development. In the end, I decided to do my extended essay on the research and development of German automobile company Volkswagen which spends billions of dollars in research and development of techno-friendly and convenient cars to fulfill their consumer requirements and demands.

As research and development is a complicated topic I had difficulties in finding sites for reference but as the research progressed I came across many sites which helped me in understanding the topic. I also considered reading Volkswagen’s annual reports and the company’s main website which helped me understand it’s aims and objectives and their future planning for cars.
