Global Odyssey (Creativity)

Global Odyssey, an event organized by grade 11 students revolved around applying the business management concepts that had learned as a part of our course. Global Odyssey was entirely student-led, was held in an open ground and was divided into different fun stalls such as fashion and cosmetics, food stalls, photo booth and exciting games for the senior school students.

I was a part of the fashion and cosmetics team which was sort of ironic considering I did not know anything about the latest trends or cosmetics. However, I saw this opportunity to grow, learn and move out of my comfort zone by participating in something I never imagined myself to.

Learning outcomes achieved are mentioned below:

LO 2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

I was asked to make around 30 bath bombs. This seemed to be a huge challenge for me as I am not a creative person. Moreover, when I tried making bath bombs, I realized that they were not quite easy to make and the resources were not easily available. I had identified a challenge and it was immaterial to make any excuses at this stage. I saw this as a growth opportunity and knew that I would develop new skills as a result. I did overcome this challenge and by taking my mother’s help I was able to complete the task.

LO 4- Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experience.

Showing perseverance in my CAS experience helped me learn the art of making bath bombs and generate demand in the market. I was given the responsibility to make bath bombs. Initially, I did not even know what bath bombs were, however, after some research I learned that it was a  DIY project and was pretty popular amongst teenagers. I realized that taking responsibility did not come easy to me. However, it was important for me to work on this. After completing the task, I felt a sense of satisfaction. It was a wonderful feeling to have!

LO 5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the skills of working collaboratively.

I knew that my team members were counting on me and that I had to complete the task of making bath bombs. Working as a team helped us divide our work and ensure efficiency. However, in this process, I realized it was difficult for me to work in a group. I was used to doing things on my own. Working in a group was hard at first but it also improved my leadership skills.

Finally, the learning profile I catered to was balanced.I learned the importance of living a balanced life. I aimed to balance my deadlines along with the responsibilities I had. Overall, it was a great experience which served as a learning experience.
