Footbox – CAS Project

The CAS project which I did was , namely, Footbox. It was a tournament which me and my two friends had organised in a turf ground near our vicinity. We named our tournament as Footbox because it is a ground covered with net from all dimensions therefore it resembles of a box and hence it was named as footbox. It was really difficult for all three of us to organise this tournament because the participating teams were a lot and it was our responsibility to set the team roster in such form that each team gets equal opportunity for proving their play skills. The factors of CAS which I and my group members included in our project were creativity and service and slight activity as well. The way we can include creativity is that the poster which I designed for our tournament asked for a creative mindset. We had to be creative in making the poster as the poster should be attractive to the audience. Second is activity. As such we did not have any activity but still we being the organisers managed to play one of the matches as a friendly fight match. The money which each of the three group members got from the project, I managed to donate all of my share to one of the NGOs which provides aid for the mentally challenged people.

The learning outcomes of my project are :-

LO1 – Identify own strength and develop areas for growth

This can be one of my learning outcomes as for my own experiences , I have never organised and head such a big tournament by negotiating with people, participants and through all this I identified my own set of skills and having strength and a development in leadership values as well as persuasive skills in negotiation with the sponsors of our tournament.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Our group had first decided to organize a football tournament observing the increase in people’s interest to book “TURF” grounds during their free times and play. Then, one of the major tasks was to shortlist the area where we could organize the tournament and for that, we needed to negotiate with the turf owners. There was a discussion within our group for setting up the prices matches and the further negotiations which were needed for funds inflow. All these contemplation of ideas and taking them to the implementation process was really tough but still, we gained a lot of experience from it and made the tournament a success.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

The perseverance which I indulged in making my project a success was considerate. The efforts which we had to put in for persuading and catching up the sponsors for our event was a tedious task. But still we managed to raise funds and make a respectable amount of profits for further charity purpose.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

As it was a group project working in collaboration was a must. The self leadership and companionship which all three of of us formed individually was commendable as per my experience. Our inner understanding made it easier for us to sort out the issues rising amongst the participating teams. Being in a team though bringing up ideas which are heard by all and followed is also a skill.

LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

My project , namely , Footbox was not as such an event which had some significance over global issues locally , nationally or internationally. But I feel that the idea of me donating all of my profits with an NGO known as Nirmit special education centre. It is an NGO which helps with the education of mentally disabled or special children. They also have the rights to get the similar level of education which we normal people are privileged to get.  Therefore, it was a national impact which my decision of donating to such particular NGO caused.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

I could identify the presence of an ethical behavior in my project of Footbox. Ethics are the moral duty which helps to rule out lucrative decisions with complete legitimacy. The ethical behavior which I have shown by me is when I had the onus of donating the complete earned mount from the tournament. Without conducting any illegitimate behavior in safeguarding the money I responsibly donated the full amount to the Nirmit Special Education Centre.
