La Vie Secrète – “The Secret Life Of Teen”

The main idea will be to spread information and awareness about the life stages as a teenager. Also, make aware of the problems and situations that are faced by most of the teenagers. Few of my friends had come up with this idea and had decided to organize this event. This was not exactly like a life class because they tend to focus on spreading information through games and activities. I had volunteered to help my friends who had organized this event in doing the decorations to make it look appealing and entertaining. At the same time, the main idea quite interested me which totally revolved around the life of teenagers. The reason was the new concept that was going to be introduced through an entertaining platform.

Learning Outcomes Achieved:

L1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I volunteered to make decorations and props for the event. My strength was that I could easily inculcate my innovative and craft skills into the event. This helped us to make unique and colorful decorations which would go hand in hand with the theme of teenage life. In the process, I also developed an interest to try new crafts. Initially, I had basic ideas but as the process began, we started to research for more ideas and learned new decor ideas that we could have incorporated. This way I could develop my knowledge of art and craft, with this I could also learn how to make these.

L5: Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Since there were many other volunteers also who had taken part to make the decorations so we had to work in a team together to make the outcome a positive one. Since most of my team members were from my grade itself, we were able to coordinate and communicate well.  All of us had different skills we could bring up effective decor ideas for their audience. We had taken into consideration the ideas of each member and finalized upon the best ones. On the day of the event, we split ourselves into smaller groups so that work decorations could be put up within time. We worked collaboratively and could easily overcome challenges, bring up better ideas, support each other and gain a sense of accomplishment once the objective would be achieved.

L7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

When we had started the task we had no intentions of trying to finish our task before time with low quality of work. We intended to do the work so that the decorations were on par with the showcasing teen life, we did not take the easier way, in fact, we opted to put all our hard work for this. Though it was physically challenging and required hard work, we put in all our efforts to get successful. This process required a lot of decisions to be taken. We had to choose upon the decorations that could be put up and this required to consider the ethics of choice and actions. Since any of our choices could lead to anything. We chose everything viewing the various advantages and disadvantages to make the decorations look appropriate.

All in all, this experience was exciting and made me learn a lot of things. The learner profile that developed through this event is knowledgeable and creativity as I will showcase my creative skills through the decorations being put up and will gain information about the life stages of teenagers. This experience didn’t only develop skills but also made me realize life lessons. We took part also in the event where we discussed the teenage problems through entertaining and engaging platforms. An environment was built such that each one of us could actively participate, know ourselves better and get to know more about teenage problems. We were successful in putting up those colorful decors which also led to a positive outcome for the event.
