Trip to Mount Abu

When it comes to nature camps, I would never want to miss a chance to go out with my friends and the fact that these are the last and crucial years of my school life wherein the memories made are going to be cherished and remembered life long. Since it was my first year at fountainhead, I did not wanted to miss the fun part and also because I was never taken to a destination by my previous school wherein adventurous activities like caving, rappelling, trekking, rock climbing was done. The trip was for 4-5 days and since it was winter, the weather was very cold, so we had to be prepared accordingly with appropriate luggage. The learning outcomes I achieved: lo1-identify own strengths and develop areas for growth: Since it was my first time, I lacked confidence if I would be able to do it or not. But since we had daily treks, I managed to get used to it. It needs a lot of stamina and agility and at times catching breath could be difficult in cold weather. lo2: demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken in developing a new skill: We performed many activities, and since it was a hill station it was at a huge height. There were multiple activities. There were activities that involved climbing up. I have a phobia of heights so I was extremely scared and did not have the courage to even go up. However, my peers, teachers and the guide encouraged me to complete the task. So irrespective of my phobia, I encouraged myself, challenged myself and did the activity. In the end, I overcame my fear and that was the most joyous moment of my trip. lo4- show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience: During the camp, the weather used to be very cold since it was the month of December and we had to wake up early in order to go for trekking and as we sacrificed few hours of sleep as till 2 a.m at night because we played cards. Also since it was winter we liked keeping ourselves warm and so coming out of bed was troublesome because we became too lazy. Also the trek used to be long and tiresome, but the view after that was amazing. It made me forget the troubles I had to face because those difficult roads let to an extremely beautiful destination. Therefore, it was because of that view I could keep myself up for such long treks. lo5: working collaboratively and helping each other is what makes a task easier and quicker. while trekking and caving, it was necessary to guide the person behind you, if something unusual appears and also caving was to be done exactly as the guide says, so once you do it you need to help the person next to you with the same instructions and since I was the first person and others were following me I did guide them exactly as the instructed said.
