la vie secrete

I and my friends (Namrata, Tvisha, Mishthi) organized an event called “la vie secrete” which was my CAS project. It mainly focused on their daily life problems, for example, love, affection, and attraction, peer pressure, parental pressure, use of alcohol, bullying and etc. So we went through the topics by only activities, games and influential compare and contrast done through them; avoiding discussions and boring speeches (but not completely). Activities such as chit games, picture games, scavenger hunt and many more we played to make it interesting. The event took place on 30th September with the information delivered by teachers and cross-checked by counselors.

Lo2 (demonstrate the challenges that have been undertaken):  Before the event me and my friends were very confident about the event, everything including dates were finalized, but later we found out that our event cannot be held on the date we planned because of the target audience (DPS students) we chose were unavailable because during that time they had their exams, so after a lot of debate and arguments we finally decided to prepone the event and change the target audience completely. But the major issue we faced was finalizing the dates since we also had our first term examinations coming up and even we needed to make sure if the teachers were available.

Once we finalized the date the challenging part for us was deciding the venue as the environment of the place matters otherwise the participants can get bored or tired easily. Also while jotting down the venues they were either too small or were very costly or the distance was very far. The hotel Lakeview was very expensive even Taj so we decided to keep it in the banquet hall of Aquatica which was very far. Since it was far we would have to provide transport and that would go out of our budget. So then rejecting we thought of keeping it in crystal palace however the cost of the food was more than the hall So keeping cost, size of the venue, distance and location into consideration we finally came up with an idea to conduct the event in a farmhouse.

Marketing was also a concern as our prior participants were from DPS so we went personally to publicize it however the principal of the school sent us a mail stating that no private event or school events can be published in their school as per their school policy. It was difficult for us to manage since we were lacking time and resources but we thought of another way to promote our event thereby we decided to make aesthetically appealing posters and publish them on social media and kept it on our stories to publicize it and ask interested people to contact us.

We learned how to deal with time and since it was my first time it was quite difficult for me to arrange a lot of things at the same time also personally for me marketing was difficult because of my nature but I tried to give my all in but not many people turned up. However the participants were still satisfied, they enjoyed it and didn’t regret coming.

lo3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience:

I usually am a very organized person, I prioritize my time by making a time table in order to complete the task on the given time. I was organized but due to the conflicts and issues turning up it was really difficult to organize myself since exams were turning up and then I also had to go to the psychology trip which was on 29th September a day before our event so organizing became difficult. I think planning was more time consuming, burdensome and difficult than initiating because as mentioned before a lot of things kept on clashing i.e exams and dates. But I think I have learned a lot from this experience and I definitely will do better than this since I have an idea of what all things should be considered and kept in mind while organizing an event.

lo4: I was perseverant and committed as I tried to manage time and give equal importance to the event as well as studies. Although it was troublesome since I had to sacrifice my weekends as well as bunk my tuitions some times due to the lack of time available and since I was going on the psychology trip I had to make sure that I do my work before going on the trip. So I made checklist and time table for each day including every hour so that I can complete my task.

lo5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: For me, I like working in groups because what 5 fingers can do 1 cannot. So the efforts contributed by the members of the group actually make the task go easier and simpler since the work is divided so it is also less time-consuming. I and my group divided the topics and activities to work effectively and collaboratively. I think it is important to work in groups because in our event we had a lot of management  was supposed to be done. Be it finalizing the food or the venue or marketing the event or taking sponsorships or the number of topics being covered was not a job of 1 person. so I think it was because of the group that it made the event possible although there being a shortage of time.

lo6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance: We thought of reflecting upon the topics which aren’t catered or talked about openly and since teenage is such an age that at this time these kind of problems start turning up and since they are unaware they do things which should not be done. So it is necessary to eradicate the problems from the roots so that is why we as a group chose to talk about those topics prior so that they are aware and when something like this happens they know what exactly should be done. It is important to do something like this globally since not only teenagers but even parents are not really aware of it since they haven’t been taught about it. since Indian culture is not very open to it. So if these can take a step further why not give an opportunity and do something better that can make life’s easier.

lo7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choice and action:

As it was an event based on teaching it was necessary that the information passed to the participants was appropriate and correct so we took help from teachers and also cross-checked the topics and information with the school counselors so that nothing wrong is passed onto them. we only conducted the activities since we are also teenagers so it isn’t ethical and we might be biased on some of the topics so that is why some of the teachers helped us and explained the other students.
