I planned to do something I had never even thought of doing in my life and that as to participate in a marathon. I really do not enjoy running but I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and see if a marathon can make me start liking to run. I went to the marathon and met a lot of new people. It was one of the most tiring but fun experiences of my life. I also got to know that running can be fun if done right.
L2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
I simply disliked running before the marathon. It was something that never interested me. It was extremely challenging to first make up my mind about participating. I somehow pulled myself out of my comfort zone and decided to go for it. The second challenge I faced was running 8 KM. I had never done that in my life. There were a lot of times in the marathon when I did not want to continue but I continued. I love taking new challenges and this was one of them. I am extremely satisfied with the challenge I took and finished. Challenges should be undertaken to know our own selves. A lot of time we don’t even know that we are good at something unless we do it. This experience was something like this for me. I got to know myself better and realized that running can be fun.
L6- Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
This marathon was done for women empowerment. This subject is close to my heart and is a matter of global significance. So many women in the world face inequality of many types and this marathon was held to empower such women in our city. I was extremely happy after being a part of it as it also made me a part of something that was empowering women. This activity made me feel that it is extremely important for women to come out of their comfort zones and enjoy life without any fear.
In conclusion, this was an empowering and fun experience for me. I would love to participate in more marathons further.
