Monsoon Musings was a student-led Poetry Event that intended to give aspiring writers (students, staff, parents and grandparents) an opportunity to express their ideas in the form of poems and tiny tales. In addition to the poetry event, We also introduced Seva Cafe where we served food during the poetry reading and people could pay whatever amount they thought was right. We also put up Art Stalls which displayed various Artworks that could also be sold by the artist. The funds collected from every part of the event went to charity, including the sales of Art installations.
L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills
I don’t regularly draw or paint so it was very challenging for me to get the hang of it and actually make an art piece. In addition to that my arm was also injured so it was very difficult for me to do it, but with the help of my mother, I ended up making three and each turned out to be better than the previous one. I was surprised at how nice my work had actually turned out to be and was happy to have developed a few art skills.
L5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Apart from the art stall I also helped some of my friends who were a part of Seva cafe. I either served with some of them or whenever someone was tired of standing at their stalls I happily volunteered to stand there so that it wouldn’t be unattended. Helping them not only made me happy but even they were very grateful to my support
L7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
As this event was a fundraiser, we weren’t going to get anything but that had no effect on the hard work done by all of us to make the event successful. We willingly worked and served all the visitors whether they gave the money or not. Additionally, we only ate the leftovers keeping in mind the consequences.
