Farewell

A Farewell is the most special event for 12th graders and one of the most memorable moments in their lives. This time, we, their juniors, got an opportunity to make that happen. We planned a night full of music, dancing, games and reliving old memories. The theme was a masquerade with a touch of bohemian.

L3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

L4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

L5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

The entire responsibility of the farewell was given to us 11th graders and we had to plan everything from scratch. One of my friends took up the responsibility of managing the dance team. There were 10-12 of us in the team so maintaining and coordinating with everyone was a possible challenge. There were a lot of challenges in the planning stage as we had to decide what songs to take, considering that the farewell was held in the school. After a lot of brainstorming and asking for permission from teachers, we finally narrowed our list down to the ones we were going to do. We picked the songs keeping in mind that we really wanted the audience to have fun and get entertained. Despite me not being the leader, I gave my 100% efforts during the whole process and performance and actively participated in whatever planning had to be done. 2 of my friends and I took the initiative of choreographing the dances that we were going to perform. It was a physically and mentally exhausting process as we had to dedicate a lot of time and energy to it initially while choreographing as well as while teaching the dance to the others. Fortunately, all the team members were very cooperative which made our work much easier. The practices were just as much fun as they were tiring. This encouraged all of us to give our best and I genuinely believe that we did. By the day of the performance, all of us were very well prepared and confident which lead to it being successful. We could say this based on the positive response we got from the audience. I was very proud of myself and my team for doing such a wonderful job and making the 12th graders happy.
