CAS trip to Gir. ( Service, Activity and Creativity)

We all went to Gir for our CAS trip. We were taken to Gir forest ( wildlife sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India ) 13 hr of the bus trip.

We as a class were taken to Gir Forest (wildlife sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India ). Gir is well known for its population of lions. Since some years the population of lions have drastically been falling. The lions are being trapped into the well which is not covered. We all were motivated to cover the well and save the lions from losing their life. It was really fun to go on the trip and enjoy all the moments with my classmates. It helped me know my classmates better. The journey from Surat to Gir took us 13 hours. The journey was very tiring but fun at the same time. As soon as we reached there, we made sure that we make every minute count and put in all the efforts. For preparing the grill we had to work with metal which was new for all of us. We used methods like cutting, vending and drilling. For more thrill, we went for night trek in the middle of the jungle.

LO 1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.
Through this trip, I discovered a new thing about myself. For example, I found out that I really like being in nature and it also helps me relax my mind. As this was my first trek I also released how beautiful nature is and needs to been taken care. While the trek I also released how scared I was from animals and small insects as well. Welding was my strength as I was able to complete my part of the work easily. I also had enough stamina to trek throughout the trip.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
Before working with a welding machine and cutting machine I was scared of the sparks that use to come out while working with them. As soon as it was my chance to work for the forest I gathered all my courage and tried doing the work. As I performed my task for the first time I was confident to do it again. I worked as much as I could and gave my 100 per cent to save the lions. Through this, I was able to learn how to be confident about yourself and try your best every time.

LO 4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experience.
As this was my first trip with all of my friend I was more in the mood of having fun and not working, but as we were a team and had to work as one I prioritized my work so that we could achieve the aim of making 2 grills. Once I started working I was commented to my work and completed the task that was assigned to me.

LO 5- Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively
We had to make 2 grills to cover. We all were divided into 2 teams so that it is easier for us to work and less time would be taken. As some of my group members were not well I decided to help them complete their part of work. In between the work I used to get a little distracted and demotivated, that is when my teammates supported me by making me work. As we all were teamed with people we knew well it was easy to collaborate and work, Through this we were aware of there strength and weakness and were able to help each other on their weakness.

Overall, I had a lot of fun on the trip and also learnt new things. I also felt really good about helping nature. I fell great to work for nature and would love to do that again.
