In Wakanui we were given the opportunity to explore the culture of the different regions. Our team got Asia as a region where we selected Bhutan as our country. It was fun to explore Bhutanese culture such as their food, their traditional clothes. This event also helped us to identify that how our personal text type was related to English part one topic (language in cultural context) and its learning outcomes
LO2:-demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The most challenging part of this event would be, answering different people at the same time. It was challenging because there were so many people asking questions at the same time. I overcame this challenge by giving my audience a basic idea about my text type which helped me to decrease the number of questions. Undertaking this challenge was fun for me but during that period I didn’t learn any new skills which were a little sad.
LO3:-demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I noted the points which my leader gave like what to say and what is English part one topic (language in cultural context). I am usually organized but when it comes to teamwork I organize everything perfectly because I don’t want my team to get left behind because of me. One of the most important things was planning because without planning it would have been difficult for me to explain what my text type means and how does it influence language in cultural context.
In the end, the event was a success and everyone enjoyed it had a great experience even when we were having less time to decorate the room. Communication skills were the most important component in the whole event because our main aim was to make the audience understand what English part one topic means and where we used it.
