My strong inclination towards economics influenced me to write an EE in economics. The nature of economics, i.e its practicality, and relatability to real life fascinates me quite a lot. Furthermore, the business sector I chose was the realty sector. Writing an EE based on this sector will not only be helpful to me in the short run but also in the long run as I want to pursue a career in it. Equally important it was, for me, to decide a suitable topic, based on the realty sector, on which I could research. After referring to my textbook, I came to know about how repo rates are used to change the consumer’s demand for bank loans and I figured out their importance in the realty sector. Hence, examining the effects of changing interest rates  (due to changes in repo rates, for home loans, on home sales is the most appropriate topic I could research upon.

My initial RQ was- To what extent are home sales, in Gujarat, affected by changing repo rates?

However, my EE supervisor advised me to make my RQ more precise in terms of time and location. Hence, my final RQ was- To what extent were home sales, in Surat, affected due to the change of repo rate, by RBI, from 7th February 2018?

The revised RQ, with a restricted location, will make my primary research easier to conduct and more precise. Also, adding a specific time period will make my research more specific.
