Global Odyssey

Global odyssey was an event based on our group 3 subjects. It was based on our group 3 subjects which were Humanities subjects. The whole grade was split into different groups like fashion, entertainment, etc. Each group had to earn by selling things with the help of group 3 subjects strategies. My group was ‘Entrepreneurs’. We sold food, small diaries, and beautifully decorated candles. We also had 3 photo booths with a different and innovative background. As children nowadays are very zestful towards getting their pictures clicked, the photo booths did well. Also to increase our sales we had used some business management strategies like giving offers and psychological pricing.10% of whatever we had earned was donated to a renowned NGO ‘Missing girls’.This is a non-profit organization using art and technology for social change. Working locally and globally, the campaign done by the organization is educating individuals and communities to put an end to this modern-day slavery. LO 1: Identify own strength and develop areas of growth Being inclined towards artistic stuff, I thought creativity was my plus point. So having a creative taste helped me design the background of photo booths. We had created 3 different photo booths with creative designs and decorating it with balloons, small hangings, etc. LO 2: Demonstrate that challenge have been undertaken and developing new skills in the process. Our group didn’t have a clear agenda of what to do for the event in the initial stage. So, thinking about the things which we should keep on sale was a challenge for us. There was a lot of brainstorming done by the group members to overcome this challenge. After a lengthy meeting, we all managed to think of certain ideas and put them in action. In the end, whatever decided by the team was executed well. LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. As mentioned we had a little difficulty at first to think about the things we could put for sale, we started off by dividing some topics that could be thought upon for nice ideas amongst the group members. As the work was divided each and every person started to think upon what could be done under those topic and gradually things got clearer and we soon arrived on what could be done on the event day. LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experience. I was really committed towards this event as it felt really engaging and helped us to put our subject concepts in real life. Also, a small part of the money earned was donated in NGO which works for a Nobel cause. This made me more enthusiastic about working for the event. I didn’t miss any early in meeting done by the group and tried participating in all the discussion and put forward some valid points. As we had to serve food we made sure that we use the best quality products for it. LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. We had divided our group members, for eg some thought for the idea of the photo booth, some decided the menu, etc. We thought for the ideas individually but whenever someone used to get stuck we as a group tried to come up with the solutions that aid the problem. Also, it was only because of coordination between the group members that we could carry out our jobs accurately. LO 6: Demonstrate engagement with the issues of global significance. The amount of money earned by us on the event day,10% of it was donated to a non – profit organization namely  ‘missing girls’.This organization works locally and globally spreading awareness about human trafficking. This organization has taken art and technology as their medium to create a social change. LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choice and action. As we were selling food, we made sure that no food is wasted by us also we had prepared for some props for our photo booth, so we made sure no resources were wasted while making those. It was a really nice and fun event. It helped us to put our learnings into real-life application. This made us more clear with how we can put our bookish knowledge into action. There was some difficulty in the initial stage but as a group, we tried to overcome all of them and we succeed. The execution of the whole event was just done right!
