The event of Global Odyssey was conducted to show globalization of various things. To portray this the whole grade was divided into groups of, entertainment, tourism, and fashion, food, logistics, finance, and decoration. I was a part of the entertainment, decoration and the hospitality team and my job was to decorate the venue and decide and conduct the games for the event as well as reporting the progress of each team to the concerned teachers. On the day of the event, I had to guide the people to play games and explain to them how the games work. The event would be attended by teachers and students of grade 7-12.

Learning Outcomes Achieved:

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
The event had helped me in identifying my strengths and weaknesses. For the decoration part, I had used my creative skills to decorate the venue. I had used my management skills to report the progress of each team and on the day of the event when the entertainment team had to handle a lot of customers to cater. I had helped them by taking the responsibility of for some of their customers and as a result, helped them in conducting the games smoothly. For a person, it is important to know strengths and weaknesses because this will help one to know about his/her qualities and what area does one should focus on.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The main challenge was to explain the customers about the game which required good communication skills. However, I was confident and I had communicated well with the customers and explained to them the games in a manner that they understood. This was because I had done such a task before during my laser tag event while explaining the rules to the participants. This skill would be helpful in the future to know new people.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
We had started planning some days prior to the event by coming to school early, working in free slots, etc which was a commitment in itself. Being committed to something is always a difficult task but because I was interested in this event I had no problem with committing to anything and also I enjoyed working with my team before and during the event. Usually, it is easy for me to commit things when it comes to the one that interests me just like this event.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
This overall event was based on working as a team. Working with others is generally easy for me because I enjoy working with others and this goes for this event as well. Without, working collaboratively we would not have been able to complete tasks on time. Before the event, we had worked as a team for the decoration purpose and were able to complete it perfectly and on time. Also, during the event, working collaboratively had helped us in catering to all the customers at the same time. Because of this, everything throughout the event went very smoothly and had not faced any difficulty at any point.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
10% of the total amount earned by this event was donated to an organization named “Missing Link Trust”. This organization had come to our school and had addressed us about the topic of sex trafficking and had even created awareness by creating the app “Missing Girls”. The global issue catered was human trafficking and knowing about it would help me in contributing to bringing a stop to it and helping the society in a positive way. Not only this, but I would like to know more deeply about global issues like this and help the people affected by it.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
We had been ethical throughout the event. This includes setting prices for the products, deciding the winner of the games played and using the resources efficiently, contributing positively towards the environment. We had decided a game in which, people had to bet on numbers ranging from 0-64 and the winner would be getting a gift voucher. For this, we had decided that we would be selling per number at ₹20 and not be greedy to earn more. This has helped me in becoming a better person in life.

To conclude, the event was a huge success and everyone who had attended the event had enjoyed a lot. Also, all of us were happy that we were able to use our classroom learning in a practical way and contribute positively by donating money for a good cause.
